'Army of the Dead' star Ella Purnell says the cast danced to 'Thriller' during filming
Zach Snyder's new zombie film "Army of the Dead" is packed with intense action and dramatic scenes, but it appears that the mood wasn't all that serious on set.
Filming took place in Albuquerque in 2019, and Ella Purnell — who plays Dave Bautista's daughter in the film — said there was even a party where the cast danced along to Michael Jackson's "Thriller."
"About half-way through the party, 'Thriller' started playing," Ella recalled during the virtual press junket on May 6.
"There was basically a flash mob in the middle of the party. All these people — just like the zombies — came out and did the 'Thriller' dance... That was very sweet and very fun," she added.
Ella said this was one of her personal favorite moments while making "Army of the Dead," and the party was thrown by none other than Dave Bautista.
The actress also clarified that all this happened two years ago, long before the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I know now, we're like, 'Woah! A party!' But this was two years ago, before all the craziness went up," Ella said.
"Army of the Dead" takes place after a zombie apocalypse leaves Las Vegas in ruins and sealed off from the world.
It follows a team led by a former zombie war hero (Dave Bautista) who have been given 32 hours to infiltrate the zombie-infested the city and retrieve $200 million locked in a safe before the city is nuked.
The film by "Justice League" and "Sucker Punch" director Zach Snyder also stars Ana De La Reguera, Theo Rossi, Huma Qureshi, Omari Hardwick, Tig Notaro, Hiroyuki Sanada, Garret Dillahunt, Matthias Schweighöfer, Raúl Castillo, Nora Arnezeder, and Samantha Win. — LA, GMA News
