Matthaios among artists featured in Disney's 'Trust Again' music video
Rapper Matthaios is taking Pinoy hip-hop to a whole new level!
On Wednesday, Disney released its official music video for "Trust Again," a song inspired by the recent animated film "Raya and the Last Dragon."
"Trust Again" features four artists hailing from all over Southeast Asia, with Matthaios excellently repping the Philippines.
In the video, you will see the Filipino hip-hop artist showcasing his signature hiphop style, in a barong no less.
According to Disney, "Trust Again" is a "striking" musical collaboration infused with indigenous instruments. It's inspired by "Raya and the Last Dragon," an animated film that features Disney’s first ever Southeast Asian Princess.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Matthaios expressed his gratitude for an amazing opportunity.
"Never in a million years did I think that I would actually be part of an original song for a Disney animation," he wrote tagging Disney.
"Of course, the idea of it crossed my mind a lot of times, but I just scrubbed it off because I thought that it was impossible. Well, I guess nothing is impossible," he added.
Matthaios rose to fame in 2019 with his hit single, "Catriona," after starting as a DJ in 2016 and frequenting the gig scene. He soon became one of the most-streamed Pinoy hip-hop artists on Spotify.
In his post, Matthaios revealed what his goal was for this year. "To make it to the international scene and, ooh wee, Papa G really made that happen fast," the rapper said.
"It’s not just any international project, it’s a DISNEY project," he added.
Matthaios follows the heels of singer KZ Tandigan, who was chosen to sing Disney's first-ever Filipino song, "Gabay."
