Selena Gomez on her career: ‘I want to give it one last try before I maybe retire music’

Selena Gomez wants to keep making music until she reaches the output that she’s completely proud of.

In an interview with Vogue for the magazine’s April cover story, the American singer shared her “frustration” with her music not fully resembling her yet.

“It’s hard to keep doing music when people don’t necessarily take you seriously,” said Selena.

“I’ve had moments where I’ve been like, ‘What’s the point? Why do I keep doing this?’ ‘Lose You to Love Me’ I felt was the best song I’ve ever released, and for some people it still wasn’t enough,” she added.

Selena said she continued to be thankful to her supporters and determined to give them and herself more.

“I think there are a lot of people who enjoy my music, and for that I’m so thankful, for that I keep going, but I think the next time I do an album it’ll be different. I want to give it one last try before I maybe retire music,” she said.

Even with these plans, Selena said she wouldn’t leave the industry entirely because she wanted to “spend more time producing” and give herself “a real shot at acting.”

Selena is set to release her first Spanish-language album “Revelación” on Friday. According to her, this “project is really an homage to [her] heritage.”

Saying she wasn’t fluent, Selena thanked her paternal grandparents in Texas for helping her.

“It’s easier for me to sing in Spanish than to speak it,” she said.
