Hyun Bin wins top prize, thanks Son Ye Jin in 2020 APAN Star Awards
Still can’t get enough of our favorite North and South Korean couple? Worry not, because Hyun Bin just gave us another moment to fangirl over!
In the 2020 APAN Star Awards held January 23, Saturday, the Korean star bagged the grand prize or “daesang” award for his role as Ri Jung Hyuk in the hit drama, “Crash Landing on You.”
“Thank you. I’m happy to be starting off 2021 with such a big award. I feel like I should work even harder this year to repay this honor,” he said in his acceptance speech.
“Thank you to the fans of ‘Crash Landing on You,’ not only in Korea but all over the world. Many people worked hard in order to create [it.] I am grateful to the writer, the directors, and all the production staff. It was an honor to work with such amazing peers, seniors, and juniors, who all showed great acting,” he continued.
Part of his success, of course, is his co-star and girlfriend Son Ye Jin whom he did not fail to acknowledge.
"I am also grateful to Son Ye Jin, whose Yoon Se Ri was the perfect partner for Ri Jung Hyuk. It was thanks to her brilliant acting as Yoon Se Ri that Ri Jung Hyuk was able to shine. Thank you. I will continue to work hard so that I can show a better and more improved side of myself."
The actor also mentioned that he will be starring in a movie set to be released this year.
Son Ye Jin, meanwhile, won the KT Seezn Star Award but was not able to attend the event.
The two confirmed their relationship through statements released by their respective managements on January 1. Hyun Bin's management, Vast Entertainment, particularly said that after "Crash Landing On You," the actors' feelings toward each other developed into a romantic relationship.
The 2020 APAN Star Awards is the actor’s first public appearance since.
