Half-Pinay Olivia Rodrigo tops global charts of streaming platforms with new single 'drivers license'
Do we have the next Taylor Swift among us?
Filipino-American singer Olivia Rodrigo just released her new single "drivers license" on Friday and it has since then topped the charts of major streaming platforms.
It hit no. 1 not only on the iTunes chart and in Apple Music's Top 100 Global Chart, but also in Spotify's Global Top 50 Chart.
"Uhhhhhh so 'drivers license' is the number one song in the world rn," the singer and actress shared on Instagram, Tuesday. "Never in my wildest dreams did I expect this. Thank u guys so much for listening. I can’t believe this is real life."
In an earlier post, Olivia also expressed her disbelief and her gratitude in being on the same list with the award-winning and record-breaking "evermore" and "folklore" artist Taylor Swift — one of Olivia's biggest inspirations.
Taylor was quick to reply to Olivia's post and even commented, "I say that's my baby and I'm really proud."
As of writing, "drivers license" now has over 18.6 million views on Youtube just five days after its release.
Before her single, Olivia is known for her role in Disney Plus' “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.”
