Blackpink is world’s biggest music act, according to Bloomberg ranking
As if their record-breaking songs aren’t enough, Blackpink has achieved yet another grand feat: the South Korean girl band is now the biggest music act in the world, according to a Bloomberg ranking.
Released on Tuesday, Bloomberg’s Pop Star Power Rankings revealed that Blackpink was the world’s biggest music act, taking into account different artists’ 3-month gross ticket sales, 30-day ticket sales, album sales, Spotify streams, YouTube views, and Instagram interactions.
The report noted that the girl band became the “most popular act on YouTube,” generating more than “1 billion views in October alone.”
The group was also the second most popular act on Spotify, while their debut album became one of the top 10 best-sellers in the US for the month.
Following Blackpink were Pop Smoke, Cardi B, Justin Bieber, Juice WRLD, Drake, and Ariana Grande.
BTS, a fellow hit South Korean group, placed 10th in the ranking.
In October, Blackpink released their first full-length compilation “The Album,” which includes the hit singles “How You Like That,” “Lovesick Girls,” and “Ice Cream.”
In the same month, the group also unveiled their documentary, Netflix’s first ever featuring a K-Pop group.
Debuting in 2016, Blackpink, composed of Lisa, Jennie, Rose and Jisoo, made hits such as “Kill This Love,” “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du,” and “Boombayah.”
They had also collaborated with several American artists, including Cardi B, Selena Gomez, and Lady Gaga. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
