BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’ wins Song of Summer at 2020 VMAs
BLACKPINK just snagged their first-ever win at the MTV Video Music Awards.
The K-pop girl group’s mega-hit single “How You Like That” dominated this year’s Song of Summer category.
This means BLACKPINK bested some of the hottest tracks released this year including Cardi B’s “WAP”; Miley Cyrus’ “Midnight Sky”; DaBaby’s”Rockstar”; DJ Khaled’s “Popstar”; and Doja Cat’s “Say So,” which were all nominated for the category.

Nominees also include Jack Harlow’s “Whats Poppin”; Lil Baby’s “We Paid”; and Dua Lipa’s “Break My Heart,” Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage (Remix)”; Pop Smoke’s “The Woo”; Saint Jhn’s “Roses”; Saweetie’s “Tap In”; Harry Styles’ “Watermelon Sugar”; Taylor Swift’s “Cardigan”; and The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights.”
The Song of Summer was based on fan votes on social media.
BLACKPINK’s VMA win catapulted the hashtag #BLACKPINK1stVMA to the top of the Twitter trends early Monday morning.
BLINKS around the world rejoiced as the group officially goes down in history as the first Korean female act ever to win a video music award.
The win is just another feather on the group's already very decorated cap. The award-winning song, released just last June, broke multiple Guinness World Records.
