Tyra Banks named new host of ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Tyra Banks has been announced as the new host of “Dancing with the Stars.”

The top model, TV personality — and may we add a Catriona Gray fan — shared her excitement on "Good Morning America."

"So excited to be hosting and producing the new @DancingABC. There’s so much legacy. Can't wait to bring the fierce, the fun and the SMIZE," Tyra said in a tweet.

According to Us Weekly, Tyra is also one of the TV show's executive producers.

“I’ve been a fan of 'DWTS' since its beginning,” Tyra said in a statement.

“The fun mixed with raw emotion, seeing celebrities push past their comfort zones, the sizzling dance performances. It’s always transported me to my days of turning it up 10 notches on the catwalk,” she added.

Tyra also tipped a hat to her predecessor Tom Bergeron, who has hosted the show for the past 15 years.

“Tom has set a powerful stage, and I’m excited to continue the legacy and put on my executive producer and hosting hats,” she said.

Now on its 28th season, “Dancing with the Stars” is a television show where a celebrity is paired with a professional dancer to perform dance routines.

Tyra was announced as the new host just a few days after ABC revealed Bergeron and his co-host Erin Andrews were leaving the show.

Bergeron reacted to the news in a tweet, saying: “Just informed @DancingABC will be continuing without me.”

“It's been an incredible 15 year run and the most unexpected gift of my career. I'm grateful for that and for the lifelong friendships made. That said, now what am I supposed to do with all of these glitter masks?” He added. — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
