Billie Eilish slams body shaming in powerful short film
Billie Eilish just slammed body shaming in a powerful short film titled, "Not My Responsibility."
The American singer-songwriter released the short video on her YouTube channel on Wednesday.
In the film, Billie is seen alone in a dark room clad in a black hoodie. She slowly removes her clothes and sinks into the water.
"Some people hate what I wear, some people praise it, some people use it to shame others, some people use it to shame me," the singer said via voice over.
She said people watch everything she does and they have opinions on her opinions, her music, her clothes, and her body.
"If I wear what is comfortable I am not a woman, if I shed layers I'm a slut. Though you've never seen my body you still judge it and judge me for it," she said.
She closed the film with a defiant statement: "Is my value based only on your perception? Or is your opinion of me not my responsibility?"
The video is reportedly shown during a concert interlude during her "Where Do We Go" world tour in Miami.
As of this writing, the video on YouTube alone garnered over 2.8 million views and it is also currently Top 36 on the trending list. —Jannielyn Bigtas/MGP, GMA News
