Parasite wins an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay

After taking the red carpet by storm, Parasite filmmaker Bong Joon-Ho wins his first Oscar trophy.

With co-writer Han Jin-won, Bong won the Best Original Screenplay.

"Thank you, great honor," Bong opened his speech before saying in Korean, "Writing a script is a lonely process. We never write to represent our countries. But this is very personal to South Korea. Thank you."

A dark comedy, Parasite is also nominated for Best Picture.
