5 most talked about moments at the Golden Globe Awards 2020

The Golden Globe Awards 2020 gave the world a whole lot of things to talk on Monday. Jokes were cracked, deserving individuals awarded, and jackets were taken off.

Here are the 5 most talked about moments at the Golden Globe Awards 2020:

1. Brad Pitt's Titanic joke

Upon receiving his Best Supporting Actor award for the film "Once Upon A Time in Hollywood," Brad gave a speech thanking his co-star in the film, Leonardo De Caprio.

He then cracked a joke referencing a scene from Titanic where Leo's character Jack didn't hop on the door where Rose (Kate Winslet) stayed on top of to survive the disaster.

"I used to watch year after year his co-stars accept award and get up and thank him profusely. I know why he's an all star, he's a gent and I wouldn't be here without you man, I think you. Still, I would've shared the raft," he joked.

2. Jason Momoa took off his jacket, gave it to wife Lisa Bonet, and flexed

The Twitterverse couldn't handle Jason Momoa when he took off his green velvet jacket to drape it over his wife Lisa Bonet, leaving him wearing only a black tank top.

He's the epitome of a gent with good looks and people from the internet are going crazy over him.

3. Ricky Gervais' opening monologue

Ricky Gervais is back on the Golden Globe Awards stage to host the show for the last time, joking that he doesn't care anymore.

He went on with his speech with a bag of jokes, first mentioning Felicity Huffman's 11-day prison sentence, and then making fun of Leo's love life, and calling Joe Pesci "Baby Yoda."

He got bleeped twice: When he joked about Dame Judy Dench defending the film "Cats" and then when he roasted some personalities whom he said were pretending to be woke. He requested those who will be accepting awards to deliver short speeches and stay out of being political.

"If you do win an award tonight don't use it as a platform to make a political speech. You are in no position to lecture the public about anything you know nothing  about the real world. Some of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg so if you win, come up accept your little award [expletive]," he said.

The Twitterverse were quick to spot Tom Hanks reacting bluntly to his joke.

4. Awkwafina made history in the Golden Globe Awards

Awkwafina was the first woman of Asian descent to win award as the Best Lead Actress in a Comedy/Musical for the film "The Farewell."

She's only the sixth woman of Asian descent to be nominated in the category.

In her speech, she thanked the director of the film Lulu Wang for giving her "the chance of a lifetime" and her co-star Shuzhen Zhao.

She also funnily dedicated the award to her father saying, "I told you I'd get a job, dad."

5. South Korea's film "Parasite" was the talk of the town after winning best foreign language film

The film about the rich-poor divide won the Golden Globe Awards for best foreign language film besting France's"Les Miserables," Pedro Almodovar's "Pain and Glory," Chinese-American family drama "The Farewell" and France's "Portrait of a Lady on Fire."

South Korean director Bong Joon-ho gave an inspiring acceptance speech and said, "once you overcome the one-inch-tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films."
