E.T. and Elliot reunite after 37 years in a sequel-like ad to the movie

E.T. is back!

The extraterrestrial and his old friend Elliot have reunited for the holidays in a moving commercial that seemed to be a mini-sequel to the 1982 hit movie.

The ad begins with Elliot's kids playing through the snow when their home experiences electrical glitches, a sign of E.T.'s visit.

They are then frightened to discover the extra-terrestrial behind a snowman, while E.T. had mistaken Elliot's boy as Elliot himself.

"You came back!" Elliot, still played by actor Henry Thomas, tells E.T. as he reunites with his old friend. He then introduces E.T. to his wife and kids, saying "a lot has changed since you were here."

Elliot's kids bond with E.T., introducing the extra-terrestrial to the internet and virtual-reality games.

The ad then gives the fans a throwback of the Steven Spielberg movie with some of its memorable scenes, including flowers going back to life, E.T. munching on his favorite Reese Pieces, Elliot's kids and E.T. flying in bicycles through the full moon, and E.T. reminding Elliot's son that "I'll be right here," pointing to his heart.

The four-minute video is an ad of XFinity, a trade name of Comcast Cable Communications which also owns Universal Studios.
