HBO confirms GoT's prequel series 'House of the Dragon'

"Fire will reign."

A prequel to "Game of Thrones" is coming to HBO, and it's called "House of the Dragon."

According to a recent announcement on Twitter, the series is co-created by the one and only "A Song of Ice and Fire" author George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal.

The poster also said "House of the Dragon" will be based on Martin's "Fire and Blood." The book tells the history of House Targaryen, the family of the dragon-riding queen Daenerys from the original hit series.

The announcement came amid reports saying HBO decided not to go ahead with the prequel television series.

Touting 12 Emmy awards, the final season of "Game of Thrones" was even named best drama series.
