Millie Bobby Brown talks about ‘awkward’ first kiss on Stranger Things
TOKYO — Whichever way you slice it, having your first kiss witnessed by the world is bound to be awkward.
For "Stranger Things" star Millie Bobby Brown, it wasn't just awkward, it was "the most awkward thing in the world"—mainly because her whole family was watching too.
"My dad was watching. My dad watched the whole thing, my whole family was there, and it was the most awkward thing in the world. It’s awkward," she said, drawing laughter from reporters during a roundtable interview at The Ritz-Carlton in Tokyo.
Millie, who plays the series' heroine Eleven, had her first onscreen smooch in Season 2 with Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler.
Despite the mortification, the 15-year-old said she thinks it's really cool for her first kiss to be immortalized.
"At the end of the day, on the other aspect of it, without my dad knowing, it’s so cool to have your first kiss, on screen," she said.
"So I can show people when I’m older like, this was my first kiss onscreen. Some people take it in a negative way, I take it in a positive way, I think it’s really cool," she said.
The Netflix hit series is entering its third season with Eleven and Mike finally together.
The trailer had teased another kissing scene between the two teens, and it's probably not the only one there is.
Shooting these scenes are far more awkward than the end product suggests.
"It’s awkward, we’re 15 years old. It’s not like, all right, let’s just do it. We’re obviously like...okay...what do you wanna do now? Shall we hug? No idea what to do. There’s not really preparation," she said.
