Fil-Am Robert Lopez and wife Kristen Anderson are nominated for the Tony for original Frozen Broadway score


Award-winning Filipino-American composer Robert Lopez and wife Kristen Anderson are nominated in the "Best Original Score" category of this year's Tony Awards for their work in "Frozen Broadway".

The news was announced on Tuesday night, with Tony Awards taking the announcement to Twitter. The couple, who are also behind the music of Disney's "Coco", are going up against Jeff Richmond and Nell Benjamin for "Mean Girls", Adrian Sutton for "Angels in America", David Yzbek for "The Band's Visit", and the composers, artists, and musicians behind "Spongebob Squarepants: The Musical", including Cyndi Lauper, Panic! At the Disco, The Flaming Lips, and John Legend.

 

 

 

 

The pair won the Best Original Song accolade at the Academy Awards in March for "Remember Me" from Disney Pixar's Coco. "Frozen" scored two other Tony Award nominations including Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical. — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
