Roger Moore's PHL visit highlighted by children's warm welcome
British actor Roger Moore, who played secret agent James Bond, has died at the age of 89 due to cancer.
Fans expressed their support and condolence to the actor's family while others paid tribute by placing flowers on his Hollywood Star in California, USA.
It can be recalled that Moore visited the Philippines as ambassador for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in 1996 and he was warmly received by the children.
"My mission is to see what is going on here, to meet with other NGOs (non-government organizations), to meet with government ministers, to meet with media and the press and to see the children," Moore said in a interview with Jessica Soho, a clip of it was aired in the report of GMA News' Cesar Apolinario on "State of the Nation with Jessica Soho" on Wednesday.
When Moore retired from his acting career, he became UNICEF ambassador in 1991.
He became famous for portraying the role of British secret agent James Bond in movies such as "The Spy Who Loved Me," "For Your Eyes Only," "Octopussy" and "A View to Kill."
Private funeral services will be held, per Moore's wish, in Monaco. — Anna Felicia Bajo/BAP, GMA News
