4th Impact performs ballad on X-Factor UK

After several weeks of impressing the judges and the audience with lively and energetic production numbers, all-Filipino girl group 4th Impact finally got to sing a ballad on The X-Factor UK for the competition's "jukebox week."

Sisters Mylene, Celina, Irene and Almira gave a soulful rendition of the Jackson 5 hit "I'll Be There" and earned praises from the judges.

However, Simon Cowell said that while the girls have outstanding vocals, they had yet to shine as individuals and highlight their different personalities as performers.

At this point in the competition, Cowell still couldn't help but address one of the girls as "B."

“Girls, can I be honest with you? When you walked on wearing identical dresses again and I saw flowers in the background, I was dreading it. Then you started to sing and everything changed. ‘B,’ your vocal was absolutely outstanding at parts. The best you sounded so far,” he said.

Meanwhile, judge Nick Grimshaw was happy to see another side of 4th Impact on the X-Factor stage.

The British music personality said, "You do entertain us every week. It was great to see a completely different side of you. As Simon said, some of the vocals are incredible. There are going to be dolphins arriving in Wembley.”

"Honestly, I loved the relationship you have with the record. The Jackson 5 were related and you are related. And I think only the people that have connection to each other can sing a record like that and do it justice," judge Rita Ora added, noting the close relationship between the sisters that makes them work flawlessly on stage every time.

Group category mentor and judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini proudly exclaimed, “You did a fantastic job and you nailed that performance.”

4th Impact also performed a mash-up of “Fancy” and “Rich Girl” as they fight for a spot in the competition's Top 4.

And this time, Cowell was finally satisfied with how the girls' individual personalities shone through the performance.

“Wow. At last we have seen four personalities! Thank you. Why has it taken so long? This was fun and cute and current. I now know you all. This was so much better. This was great," he said.

The Top 4 contestants will be revealed on Sunday, November 29, (Monday, November 30, in Manila) with five remaining acts fighting for their spot, including 4th Impact, Reggie and Bollie, Che Chesterman, Louisa Johnson, and Lauren Murray.

After being declared part of the Top 7 contestants last week, 4th Impact is set to perform on the X-Factor UK live tour, which will run from February to March next year.  — Bianca Rose Dabu/BM, GMA News
