Time Space Warp, ngayon din! Shaider to reboot with new DVD movie

For Filipino kids growing up in the late '80s and the early '90s, the Japanese series featuring pulis pangkalawakan Shaider was a big part of the weekend television viewing experience.

 

A reboot of the series, originally titled "Uch? Keiji Shaid?" ("Space Sheriff Shaider") is in the offing with the release of a DVD movie in November.

 

According to a translated article on the official Toei Studios website, actress Noemi Morinaga, who played the popular female sidekick Annie in the original series, will reprise her role in the reboot called "Space Sheriff Shaider: The Next Generation".

 

The original Shaider, Hiroshi Tsuburaya, passed away in 2001.

 

Actor Iwanaga Hiroaki steps into the role of the futuristic space sheriff, who fought evil alien monsters in a "time space warp" every week in the original series.

 

Actress Kawamoto Mayu will play Tammy, taking over the female sidekick role of Annie.

 

In 2007, a Filipino adaptation of the original series aired on GMA-7. Titled "Zaido," the series starred Dennis Trillo, Aljur Abrenica, and the late Marky Cielo as a trio of space sheriffs. - JST, GMA News
