Andi Eigenmann burst into tears when she admitted that she already had thoughts about quitting showbiz but she became inspired even more to love her craft after attending the 69th Cannes Film Festival in France.
The 25-yea-old actress tearfully admitted, 'I've been so emotional since I've been to France. I was already in that part when I was on the verge of giving up na.
'My time is over in showbiz and what Filipinos really look for is really different from what I can offer.'
Her mother, Jaclyn Jose, also observed that her daughter has been feeling frustrated about her career. Jaclyn, who was named as Best Actress during Cannes 2016, recalled that she initially did not want her daughter to join showbiz because she knew the hardships that came along with it.
Aside from Andi and Jaclyn, other cast members of Ma’ Rosa graced the homecoming dinner held last night, May 25, at Makati Shangri-La Hotel organized by Solar and Sinag Maynila.
Maria Isabel Lopez, Jomari Angeles, Kristoffer King and Inna Tuazon were among the stars who were recognized that night.
In the movie Ma' Rosa, Andi Eigenmann is cast as the daughter of Rosa's character played by Jaclyn Jose. This role earned for Jaclyn the Best Actress Award at the 69th Cannes Film Festival.
'It's so inspiring to know that my mother has been recognized all around the world and it's not just some event, it's the most prestigious award-giving body in the world. My mom has basically brought our name...the name of our country and made the whole country proud and I hope it serves as an inspiration to other Filipinos who aspire to do the same.'
Andi said about being included in the Best Dressed List of Vanity Fair, 'Sobrang sarap po ng pakiramdam. I just went there and I wanted to look my best because it's my dream to walk down the red carpet.
'I met her [Kirsten Dunst]. I met a lot of beautiful women, some from Hollywood and from around the world. I told her [Kirsten] that I was a fan and sabi niya, maganda raw ako,' she said with a laugh.
When asked for her reaction to Sid Lucero's triumph in the international scene, tears suddenly welled up in Andi's eyes.
Her half-brother was recently named as Best Actor at the 19th LA Comedy Festival for the movie Toto.
Her voice broke as she admitted, 'I've been so emotional since I've been to France. I was already in that part when I was on the verge of giving up na.
'My time is over in showbiz and what Filipinos really look for is really different from what I can offer.'
Andi was pleased to know that her family members are being recognized internationally.
'I get home to find out that my brother also brought the name of our country all the way to New York.
'It's such a wonderful feeling to know that my family is really at it in terms of making sure that we will bring the name of our country, not just our last name.'
Andi cried again as she talked about her late father Mark Gil, 'I feel like my dad is just up there, looking down on us and being so happy.
'Yun yung isa sa mga sayang kasi wala na siya para ma-witness yun with us. My dad has always been one of my biggest fans and to know that I made it, kahit na one week lang, isang maliit na bagay lang ang nagawa ko sa isang pelikula na na-recognize abroad, alam ko na sobrang proud na iyon sa amin.' -- For the full story, visit PEP.ph
