Dawn Zulueta says the country is ready for positive change with Duterte's victor
Dawn Zulueta believes presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte will deliver his promise of change to the Filipino people.
The 47-year-old actress said she is convinced based on her experience when she moved to Davao City, which Duterte led as mayor for 20 years.
Dawn relocated to Davao in 1997 when she married Anton Lagdameo Jr., who was then running a business in the city until he entered politics as the representative of Davao Del Norte’s 2nd district.
“Well, ako, naging maganda ang experience ko living in Davao.
“I loved it there, it was so peaceful. The peace and order is really fantastic.
“Malinis, makikita mo talaga [ang] disiplina, maski ng mga tao.
“Yung pag-manage talaga ni Mayor [Dutertre] doon sa city.
“Lahat ng mga tao, meron talaga silang respeto sa kanya, so they follow the rules,” she related.
Will Dawn accept if she will be offered a position in the Duterte administration?
“Me? No, no. I do not know anything about running a town.
“I only know how to run a house, a household, and even that sometimes I fail, so no-no.”
She reiterated her support for Duterte, “I’m a supporter because I also know Mayor Digong personally.
“I believe in him and in what he can do.
“So I think everyone should rally behind him and support him given this chance.”
Dawn interpreted the result of the presidential election as a sign that the Filipinos are ready for Duterte’s style of governance.
“I guess you can call it a landslide victory, marami talagang bumoto sa kanya, maraming nagmamahal.
“I’d like to think lahat ‘yan, gugustuhing suportahan siya.
“So when he starts to implement na rin yung mga rules kagaya ng ginawa niya sa Davao, I’d like to think that we’re ready for it.
“The country is ready for it and we’re ready for that kind of change because I think it’s a positive change.” -- For the full story, visit PEP.
