Maine Mendoza on fame: ‘It will take a while before I will get used to this’

Call it “Maine Attraction,” but when Maine Mendoza is in sight, it's almost instinctive to have your camera ready and take a snapshot.

That was what happened at her launch as the ambassador of Avon’s Skin So Soft Advance White with Stem Essence Hand and Body Lotion earlier, February 11, at the EDSA Shangri-La Manila's Chi The Spa.

No interviews were granted to the press people who came. But everyone in the room seemed happy with a photo op.

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) managed to ask a few questions in what this writer would call her “shortest interview” while she was having a wefie with the woman of the hour.

Is she already used to fame?

“Hindi pa po,” Maine answered, her voice clear and distinct.

She resumed, “It will take a while before I will get used to this.”

Then in between the shots, she added, “The cameras, the smiling, all surreal.”

We told her: “But you've been like a pro.”

To that, she threw in, “Hindi pa po. Hindi talaga!”

With the way she’s been taking most things in stride, who would have thought she's been in show business for only seven months?

After the photo op, a few reporters made an attempt to ask her questions.

One managed to ask about meeting Marian Rivera at GMA's trade launch last night, February 10.

PEP only heard a portion of her answer, “Masaya.”

With YES! magazine and a reporter, we followed her while she was on her way out of the hotel.

What are her plans on Valentine’s Day?

A pause before answering, “Secret.”

Is there someone special?

We got another “secret.”

Then, she continued, “Sa tamang panahon, malalaman natin.”

And smiling while walking, she left this message for her fans, “Thank you very much sa AlDub Nation sa suporta niyo sa amin.

“Sana huwag kayong magsawa, and Happy Valentines.

“Kiligin tayong lahat sa Valentines.” —PEP
