Margie Moran on why Pia Wurtzbach won: 'She speaks with wisdom'

Ang victory walk ni Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach ang isa sa mga touching moment ng Miss Universe Homecoming sa Smart-Araneta Coliseum noong Biyernes, January 29, dahil hindi siya naging maramot na ibahagi ang kanyang tagumpay kay Miss Universe 1973 Margie Moran.

Nang lapitan ni Pia si Margie, niyaya niya ang former Miss Universe na samahan siya sa kanyang victory walk na umani ng masigabong palakpakan mula sa audience.

Sa panayam kay Margie ng host na si Xian Lim, sinabi niya ang mga dahilan kaya nanalo si Pia.

“It came at the time that she’s more mature because she has a gift of gab that came with experiences in her life while growing up, working, being a breadwinner.

“She speaks with wisdom. And I think that gives her also the confidence and loving what she does and having a definite advocacy gives her very good qualities and representing our country, the Philippines, this day.”

HER CROWNING MOMENT. Nagbalik-tanaw rin si Margie sa mga pangyayari noong July 21, 1973, ang gabi na napanalunan niya ang Miss Universe crown.

“Like I said, being in the right time and right place.

“The most memorable thing is being in Greece, in Athens, in the Acropolis, when I won Miss Universe.

“I felt like a Greek goddess, a Helenic goddess.

“And you know, unlike today, there were only three Filipinos in the audience dahil wala pang OFWs at that time, in 1973.

“Pero I was still the favorite of the crowd and I was Miss Photogenic as well. I was the favorite of the press.

“Yung mga tatlong Pilipino doon, e, taga-Embassy pa.

“I was so proud. I felt when I won, I was the most important person that moment.

“I was so proud to wear the sash Philippines.

"And do you know when I won, that was the time when they drove tourism.

“It was the reason why tourism became the most important agenda in the government and they made Miss Universe 1974 in the Philippines.”
