Boyet de Leon sa pinagdadaanan ng pamilya: 'Hindi ako biglang aatras na lang sa pagsubok na ito'

 

Premiere drama actor Christopher de Leon, 58, said that his wife Sandy Andolong, 53, is recuperating well after her kidney transplant last month.

In an interview with GMA reporter Gorgy Rula and PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), the veteran actor assured that Sandy will be back to work after three to four months of rest.

“Si Sandy right now is recovering very well.

“Nasa bahay siya, naka-quarantine for a while. [After] a couple of months, okay na siya.

“She’ll be back doing Home Sweetie Home pa rin paggaling niya,” said Christopher at the contract signing of daughter Mariel de Leon held at the Viva Entertainment office, Thursday, April 23.

Christopher further said that Sandy had to be quarantined in a separate room in their house to avoid the risk of infection.

“Inayos namin yung kwarto niya.

"Meron siyang sariling nurse, meron siyang sariling television, may sarili siyang kuwarto, tapos naka-air purifier yun, sanitized lahat.

“Lahat ng papasok, kailangan yung sole ng sapatos or tsinelas, nila-Lysol.

“’Pag papasok kami, I have to be in full gear—yung mask, damit. Maingat kami.”

Asked if he’s not allowed to hug or kiss Sandy, Christopher smiled before saying: "Meron naman. Minsan hindi mo matiis, ‘di ba?

“Pero as much as possible, halik-mommy, sa ulo lang.

“But I’m very happy that she is recovering well. Ang ganda na ng condition niya ngayon.”

SON MIGUEL. Aside from Sandy’s successful operation, Christopher is also grateful that his 29-year-old son Miguel was declared cancer-free by his doctor in the U.S. last February.

Second in a brood of five, Miguel was diagnosed with testicular cancer last year.

Asked about he’s dealing with the trials in their family, Christopher admitted that there were a lot times when he goes down on his knees, praying for the recovery of both her beloved wife and son.

A devout Catholic, Christopher related sans any trace of self-pity or resentment: “I lost ten pounds.

“Overwhelming yung situation. Minsan ‘pag mag-isa ako, talagang parang lumalaki yung ulo ko.

“Pero aside from dun sa kundisyon ni Miguel, ‘O, iwan muna kita dahil si Nanay muna ang puntahan ko.’

“Hanggang ngayon, recovering period pa rin si Miguel dahil may operasyon.

“Tapos pag-uwi dito, ospital ulit.

“Parang medyo merong times na talagang yun yung mga panahon na, ‘pag nagdadasal ka nakaupo ka, hindi, nakaluhod ka.”

While sharing the struggles of their family, the veteran actor looked surprisingly serene and even chalked it up to God’s way of bringing them closer to each other.

“Wala, talagang pananampalataya lang talaga at kapit-tuko sa Panginoon.

“And, of course, kahit naman minsan may mga talagang malapit na sa Kanya binibigyan pa ng trials sa kanya.

“Hindi naman ako biglang aatras na lang sa pagsubok na ito.

“I have to face everything. I have to hold the bull by its horn.

“So, ang Diyos na lang ang nagbibigay sa akin ng lakas.”  

Christopher also did not forget to thank all his loved ones, friends, colleagues, and supporters who continuously pray for Sandy and Miguel who are now on their way to full recovery.

“The Lord is always faithful. Yung trust ko na lang sa Kanya ang nangingiral.

“Everything is well with God. Everything is doing well,” he gratefully reiterated. -- PEP.ph
