Willie Revillame to air new show on GMA-7?

There have been reports indicating that Willie Revillame will be airing his own show on GMA-7 this May.

 

PEP had the chance to ask GMA Senior Vice President for Entertainment TV Lilybeth Rasonable regarding this development but she simply said, "I don't know about that date, or if and when it will happen."

 

However, she did confirm that there are ongoing negotiations between Willie and GMA-7.

 

"It's not under us. We are not the ones talking to him.

 

"There are talks nga but hindi kami ang involved."

 

PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) was present during the March 17 press conference held at GMA Network to announce the upcoming shows of the Kapuso Network this 2015.

 

In a separate interview, Redgie Acuña-Magno, Vice President for Drama Productions, reiterated that Willie is dealing with top management of GMA Network.

 

"Wala pang ina-announce sa amin but we know they have been talking.

 

"Blocktimer siya, hindi siya station-produced."

 

She described the format as game show-slash-variety show.

 

"Yung programming [department] ang mas nakaka-alam.

 

"Sa Singko [referring to TV5] ganun din siya, buong team niya. Pero iba ang arrangement sa GMA.

 

"Talagang airtime. They will buy airtime."

 

She explained, "Sa network, pag may isang production na bibili ng airtime. Pwede naman sila bumili kung may available airtime.

 

"But of course, we have to have control of the content. Kailangan makita namin kasi ilalabas mo sa network mo. Ang in charge dun ang programming department, hindi kami."

 

As for having Willie on the Kapuso Network, the GMA-7 executive said about the TV host, "Welcome naman siya.

 

"We know naman how Willie works. Sobrang hands on 'yan sa trabaho niya.

 

"Very passionate 'yan."

 

However, the final decision rests upon top management of GMA.

 

"Wala naman kaming say kung bibili 'yan ng airtime. Kahit sino pwede bumili ng airtime.

 

"In their contract with the network, mayroong mga parameters that the blocktimer cannot do."

 

She noted that Willie's former rival, Joey de Leon, is even helping the TV host iron out details regarding the supposed transfer.

 

In the past, Willie and Joey have traded barbs on air when they were still pitted against each other in the noontime block but that is all water under the bridge now.

 

"Rinig ko si Joey pa nga ang nagpu-push [na matuloy]."

 

Redgie and Willie have known each other for a long time. In fact, the TV host is actually a godfather of Redgie's child.

 

"Dati kasi I worked for Helen Vela sa Lovingly Yours kaya kilala ko siya saka si Princess [Punzalan]."

 

Redgie recalled that she had the chance to talk to Willie when he watched a boxing match of Manny Pacquiao held in Macau.

 

"Sinabi niya sa akin, 'Ano kaya kung sa Channel 7 ako?'

 

"Alam ko na at that time, hindi mangyayari kasi yun yung time ng girian nila ng Eat Bulaga.

 

"Meron pa silang away-away.

 

"Birong totoo yung noon pero ngayon, nagiging totoo!" —PEP
