Dennis Trillo shifts to action for Cinemalaya entry The Janitor

 
After portraying a homosexual in the popular GMA-7 teleserye My Husband's Lover, Dennis Trillo will shift to being an action star in the upcoming Cinemalaya entry The Janitor.

Directed by Mike Tuviera, this film will compete in the Director's Showcase category of the 10th edition of Cinemalaya.

Dennis is excited to do action scenes for his upcoming movie where he will be paired with fellow GMA-7 star LJ Reyes.

"Pulis ako [na] naalis sa katungkulan temporarily. Na-assign ako dun sa para imbestigahan [yung kaso].

"Based dun sa RCBC bank robbery, based ito sa bloodiest bank robberies sa buong Pilipinas.

"Hinanap ko yung mga suspects. Kumbaga, janitor [parang] taga-ligpit ng mga suspects.”

In 2008, robbers massacred ten people in the Cabuyao, Laguna, branch of Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC). Reports indicate that more than P12 million were looted from the bank.

In his Instagram account, Dennis shared a photo of a page from the script of The Janitor.

The description and dialogue appear blurred but the top portion indicates that the scene involves an exterior shot of the "Mabuhay Savings Bank."

The page also shows that the chargen will reflect the date July 21, 2011 and the setting as San Pedro, Laguna.

In the comments section of his Instagram photo, Dennis gave more information about his upcoming movie: 

He posted: "Ito po ay tungkol sa isang modern day assasin, tagaligpit ng mga makasalanan, kaya "the Janitor"

This isn't the first time Dennis took part in the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival.

In 2009, Dennis portrayed a con artist in the Cinemalaya entry Astig.  

He was also the lead actor in the 2012 Cinemalaya entry Ang Katiwala wherein he was cast as a caretaker of a house previously owned by a key historical figure.

NO MORE GAY ROLES? Given the immense popularity of My Husband's Lover, is Dennis worried about not meeting expectations for his next project?

“Kinakabahan, siyempre, dahil laging may pressure, lalo na napaka-phenomenal nung nangyari sa last ko na project.

"Pero maganda rin yung pressured ka para at least conscious ka na pagbutihin palagi lalo na kung ganun nga yung sitwasyon.”

When asked if Dennis is willing to accept gay roles in the future, he answered, "Siguro kung konektado lang siya sa My Husband's Lover.
