PEP: Winners of 2008 Catholic Mass Media Awards revealed
The winners of the 30th edition of the Catholic Mass Media Awards were announced yesterday, October 29, during the ceremony held at Teatro ng GSIS in Pasay City. The awarding ceremony was attended by key personalities in the print media, radio, television, music, and the advertising industry. Jolina Magdangal and The Company performed song numbers for the event which was organized by the Archdiocese of Manila. First handed out in 1978, the CMMA "pays tribute to those who have promoted Christian values in an outstanding way, in radio, press, advertising, television, and film." Some of the winners who were present yesterday were Korina Sanchez, the host of Rated K; Vicky Morales, the host of Wish Ko Lang; Dyan Castillejo, the host of Sports Unlimited. Wilma Doesnt, Lucy Torres's co-host in The Sweet Life, also made it a point to personally receive the award for Best Talk Show. This QTV-11 program tied with Mel and Joey (GMA-7) for the said category. Young star Krystal Reyes, the title character in Mga Mata ni Angelita, was also present to represent the GMA-7 show that won Best Drama in the television category. ABS-CBN bagged six awards this year while DZMM 630, its flagship AM station, also received six awards. GMA-7 took home four CMMA trophies while its sister station QTV-11 received three awards. The Kapuso Network's AM station, DZBB 594, bagged one award during the CMMA. ABC-5 (now known as TV5) was honored with two awards. Fr. Salvatore Putzu of the Kapwa Ko Mahal Ko Foundation was honored with a Serviam Award this year.
