James and Oliver Phelps, the Weasley twins in 'Harry Potter,' grace Max launch in the PH, light Christmas tree

James and Oliver Phelps, best known for playing twins Fred and George Weasley in the “Harry Potter” films, are the special guests at the launch of Max in the Philippines.

The actors met with members of the Philippine press ahead of the grand launch in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, on Tuesday. James and Oliver arrived in the Philippines on Monday, and it is their first time in the country.

Speaking to GMA News Online, James said that their time in the country has “been really good.”

“We're able to have a little bit of downtime this morning. So we just went around the local area and had some really good food for lunch,” he shared, adding that they had chicken adobo.

Oliver also said that they try to go around like locals whenever they travel.

“We try and go where the locals go, and eat what the locals eat, and almost leave it to the waiter and say, ‘What would you eat?’” the British actor said. “It's been nice trying some of the local food.”

The beloved twins also have this message for Filipino fans of “Harry Potter."

“Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome while we're here,” Oliver said. “And also, before that, like people have been asking us for many, many years, ‘You should come to the Philippines. Check us out.’ So we're finally glad to be able to be here and be here for the launch of Max.”

James added, “So, watch Max, and always solemnly swear to get up to no good.”

James and Oliver played an important role in the launch of Max, where they pushed the button to light the streaming service’s Christmas tree in BGC.

Aside from playing the pranksters Fred and George in the “Harry Potter” films, James and Oliver are also the hosts of the Max reality show, “Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking.”

Max launched in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, and Hong Kong today, November 19.

Max is home to brands like HBO, Cartoon Network, and the DC Universe, as well as several Pinoy content like “Drag Race Philippines” and “On The Job.”

Subscription plans range from P149 to P2,790. Starting today, all existing HBO GO subscriptions will automatically become Max subscriptions and users will be directed to the new streaming site.
