ER Ejercito's wife, actress-politician Maita Sanchez, passes away
Maita Sanchez, the wife of former Laguna governor ER Ejercito, has passed away. She was 55 years old.
Her death was confirmed by her husband in a social media post on Sunday, announcing that the actress-politician died of endometrial cancer.
Maita is survived by ER and their six children: Eric, Jet, Jerico, Jhulia, Diego and Gabriela.
A wake and a daily mass at 7 p.m. will commence on November 3 to 9 at their ancestral home in Pagsanjan, Laguna.
The Ejercito family is also requesting prayers and mass offerings for Maita.
"Eternal rest grant unto her, O, Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God. Rest in peace," ER said.
Born Girlie Javier, Maita appeared in several films like "Pagbabalik ng Probinsyano," "Ang Dalubhasa," and "Batas ng Lansangan."
She entered politics in 2010 as mayor of Pagsanjan, Laguna, while ER was elected as the governor of the province. She served three terms.
From 2019 to 2022, Maita served as the vice mayor of Pagsanjan. She ran for Pagsanjan mayor once again in May 2022 but lost in the election.
