Liza Marcos calls on public to rally behind local film industry

First Lady Louise "Liza" Araneta-Marcos on Wednesday urged the public to rally behind the country's film industry, noting that the talents in Philippine cinema should be showcased globally.

''Had a productive visit to the temporary offices of the Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), as we eagerly anticipate the completion of their permanent home at the Film Heritage Building in Intramuros," Mrs. Marcos said.

''Now more than ever, it's crucial to rally behind our local film industry.  Our filmmakers are telling stories that need to be seen, not just here -- but across the globe,'' she added.

''Let's celebrate these incredible talents, and show the world what Filipino cinema is truly made of!''

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. earlier noted the need to tap the technology and tools available to showcase Filipino excellence in the creative industry.

Pres. Marcos said that through the effective combination of technological developments and the actors' craft, the local film industry has greater opportunities to share traditions and values than ever. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA Integrated News
