Lovi Poe on being called a Hollywood actress: 'Nahihiya ako'

Lovi Poe paid a visit to GMA Network for her guesting on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda."

On Wednesday's episode, Tito Boy asked Lovi why she feels awkward when she is described now as a Hollywood actress.

"I think I consider myself just an actress in general... It's like, for me, I'm an actress and 'yun nahihiya ako, but that's how I see myself, really, and I could be acting anywhere, I'm always here," she said.

Among Lovi's recent projects include Hollywood films "The Chelsea Cowboy" and "Bad Man."

In March, she was cast in a new film that will be produced and directed by Garry A. Brown, who is best known for his work on "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and "Prison Break."

Lovi also talked about the differences between acting in Hollywood and the Philippines, saying that the former calls for "something that's a bit more subtle."

"Syempre they're gonna tell you to tweak if they wanna go higher or lower pero more on subtle conversational kasi. Here, iba naman 'yung atin na nakasanayan natin dito," she said.

Lovi then demonstrated her acting prowess as she and Tito Boy engaged in a skit, with her showcasing a tempered and subtle approach to her acting.

In the "Fast Talk" episode, Lovi also talked about losing her manager, Leo Dominguez, and Regal Entertainment matriarch Mother Lily Monteverde in just less than three months this 2024. The award-winning actress considers Leo and Mother Lily two important people in her life, with the former standing as a father figure to her.

Her upcoming film, "Guilty Pleasure," is her first film that Leo will not get to see and is also one of the last films that Mother Lily greenlit.

The film is directed by Connie Macatuno and also stars JM De Guzman and Jameson Blake. Per Lovi, it is about a lawyer who is torn between her responsibility as a laywer and her integrity.

"Guilty Pleasure" is set to premiere in cinemas on October 16.

Aside from her recent Hollywood films, Lovi's past films include "Sana Dati," "Seasons," "The Escort," and "Hindi Tayo Pwede," among many others. She has also starred in several GMA Network shows like "Owe My Love," "Someone to Watch Over Me," "Beautiful Strangers," "The One That Got Away," and more.
