Kim Ji Soo learns Tagalog from Boy Abunda

Kim Ji Soo learns Tagalog from Boy Abunda

Kim Ji Soo just made his first-ever “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” appearance.

On Friday’s episode, the South Korean Sparkle star talked about his experience so far in the Philippines, also sharing that he's still learning to speak Tagalog.

“Hindi pa po ako magaling pero nag-aaral ako ng Tagalog pakonti-konti,” he said.

To help Ji Soo, Tito Boy taught him some Tagalog phrases.

For the first one, the Kapuso host invited Tiyang Susan on the stage and explained the meaning of the sentence “Ang ganda ni Tiyang Susan!”

Ji Soo agreed, “Yeah, ang ganda mo!” and repeated the line.

They also did some mini skits to apply the other phrases, “Wala na bang tawad ‘yan?” and “Ang traffic naman. Nakakaloka!”

Tito Boy also taught Ji Soo the tongue twister “Pasko, paksiw,” which he surely nailed, gradually speeding up in saying the line.

Before becoming an actor in South Korea, Ji Soo said that he had a simple life, playing basketball, football, and computer games.

While studying, he took up acting classes and went to auditions.

When he was 19 years old, he stayed with JYP Entertainment for six months, learning how to act, sing, and dance. In 2015, he officially made his debut in the K-drama “Angry Mom.”

“It’s really fun because I love my job. But at the same time, it’s very tough because I always have a lot of pressure to do well,” he added.

Ji Soo’s first Kapuso show was “Black Rider,” where he played Adrian Park. In the action-packed series, his character participated in a gunfight scene, spoke Tagalog and English, and had several interactions with Yassi Pressman’s character, Vanessa.

He now plays Dr. Kim Young in “Abot-Kamay Na Pangarap” with Jillian Ward.

Ji Soo also has an upcoming film, "Mujigae," with Rufa Mae Quinto, Alexa Ilacad, and more. "Mujigae" will premiere on October 9 in SM Cinemas nationwide.
