Ricardo Cepeda gets emotional after release from detention, says he worried for his family

Ricardo Cepeda could not help but be emotional after his release from his 11-month-detention due to a syndicated estafa case filed against him last year.

As seen in Lhar Santiago's report on "24 Oras," Monday, the veteran actor got teary-eyed as he spoke to the media and talked about the worries he had for his family while he was behind bars.

"My worry is sila," he said. "How are they going to handle it, how are they going to handle people saying things about me, iyong negativity they may hear."

Ricardo previously said he was not connected the company involved in the estafa complaint, saying he was only an endorser of its products.

"Akala ko talaga [the case] would be over once nakita, nabasa nila, nakita nila na, huh, hindi siya kasama. I really thought, we thought, two months lang baka tapos na ito," he said. "You try to be positive."

The actor said his partner, actress Marina Benipayo, supported him through those difficult times.

"Sabi ko nga she's my hero," he said. "She really kept everything together na that's what helped me also inside knowing that somebody is taking charge outside."

Marina recently posted a video of her and Ricardo dancing to celebrate his release from detention. He posted bail after 11 months in Cagayan Provincial Jail.

No hearing has been set so far for the continuation of his case.
