Dennis Trillo snatches Ashley Ortega’s phone on ‘Pulang Araw’ set: ‘Colonel Yuta is on the loose’

Ashley Ortega just shared a new sneak peek at her “Pulang Araw” look.

On TikTok, the Sparkle star posted a video of herself wearing a nun’s attire, but she was caught off guard when Dennis Trillo, who plays the role of Lt. Col. Yuta Saitoh, suddenly snatched her phone and started running.

“Colonel Yuta is on the loose,” Ashley wrote in the caption with the hashtag #pulangaraw.

“Sumanib si Dennis kay Colonel Yuta,” a user commented.

“Kinuha ni mareng jen selpon niya kaya nanghahablot na,” another user said.

Ashley portrays Sister Manuela Apolonio, a nun who becomes a comfort woman during the Japanese occupation in the Philippines.

In preparation for her role, Ashley and her co-star, Sanya Lopez, visited comfort women to learn more about their experiences. The actresses turned emotional as the women recounted what happened to them.

"Comfort women" refers to the women who were subjected to sexual slavery by the Japanese imperial army in countries like the Philippines, Korea, and China during World War II.

The few remaining Filipina survivors, who are in their late 80s or 90s, have been fighting for reparations from the Philippine and Japanese governments for decades.

The Kapuso series made a strong debut on Netflix via www.netflix.com/PulangAraw last month and was a trending topic on X.

"Pulang Araw" airs weeknights on GMA Prime at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras."
