Barbie Forteza reveals this emotional line in ‘Pulang Araw’ was an ad lib

Barbie Forteza just revealed that this one line in “Pulang Araw” was an ad lib.

On Monday night’s episode of the historical series, Adelina (Barbie) had an intense argument with her older sister Teresita (Sanya Lopez). Teresita is set to be married to Hiroshi (David Licauco), but she catches him and Adelina kissing.

During the argument, a furious Teresita tells Adelina that although she does not love Hiroshi, she is sacrificing herself for their family by agreeing to marry him.

Following this, a crying Adelina tells Teresita, “Hindi lang naman ikaw ‘yung nagsakripisyo dito eh."

On X (formerly Twitter), Barbie revealed that this emotional line was actually not part of the script.

“Ad lib ko ito na nakakatuwa dahil sinama sa ere,” the Kapuso Primetime Princess said.

“Naramdaman ko din kasi talaga si Adelina sa eksenang to. Gusto niyang ipaalam kay Teresita na she shares the burden of the situation with her,” she added.

Previously, Barbie shared an anecdote about her kissing scene with David, which she said caused her to panic a bit.

“Pulang Araw” traces the intertwined lives of four childhood friends: Adelina (Barbie), Teresita (Sanya), Hiroshi (David), and Eduardo (Alden Richards). As war ravages their homeland and Japanese forces occupy the Philippines, their dreams, friendships, and loyalties are tested, leading them on a journey of self-discovery and resilience. 

“Pulang Araw” airs on GMA Prime on weekdays at 8 p.m. and on Netflix.
