‘Pulang Araw’ cast gets plaque of appreciation from MTRCB
The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) awarded a plaque of appreciation for the Kapuso series “Pulang Araw.”
According to Lhar Santiago’s report on “24 Oras” Friday, the recognition was received by stars Sanya Lopez, Cassy Lavarias, Migz Diokno, and Cheska Maranan, as well as program manager Edlyn Abuel.
They were welcomed by MTRCB chairperson Lala Sotto.
“‘Pag bungad niya sa ‘kin talaga, ‘Ang ganda ng show niyo. Ang galing-galing niyong lahat.’ Kumbaga parang ‘yun pa lang, parang wait lang po, kinikilig ako,” Sanya said.
“Masaya po kami kasi nanonood po siya ng ‘Pulang Araw,’ masaya po siya, nagustuhan niya po ‘yung mga role po namin bilang young Adelina, young Teresita, and young Hiroshi po,” Cassy said.
Sotto said that she’s “the biggest fan” of the series.
“I’ve been watching them. Sinusubaybayan ko sila. I’m really, really enjoying this series now. I find it so rich in culture, in history. And the actors are doing so well, all of them,” she said.
“Pulang Araw” traces the intertwined lives of four childhood friends: Adelina (Barbie Forteza), Teresita (Sanya), Hiroshi (David Licauco), and Eduardo (Alden Richards). As war ravages their homeland, their dreams, friendships, and loyalties are tested, leading them on a journey of self-discovery and resilience.
The main antagonist of the series is Col. Yuta Saitoh, played by Dennis Trillo. He is a Japanese imperial army officer whose mission is to conquer the Philippines. He will have feelings for Teresita.
The show made a strong debut on Netflix via www.netflix.com/PulangAraw last month and was a trending topic on X.
