Marian Rivera slays curse line from ‘Balota,’ emphasizes film’s message

Marian Rivera totally nailed this line from her new film, “Balota.”

During the film’s gala night, the Kapuso Primetime Queen was asked to say one of her lines from the film.

“Uulitin ko ang linya ko para sa ‘yo. Paki zoom in po ito,” Marian told the audience.

Getting into character as Teacher Emmy, the actress effortlessly delivered her line, “Paulit-ulit na lang. P —.”

Right after that and the audience’s applause, Marian emphasized that “Balota” serves as a wake-up call for Filipinos.

“Nakikita naman natin kung ano ‘yung nangyayaring mga proseso,” she said.

“Kumbaga itong pelikulang ‘Balota’ at wake-up call para sa atin na pag pinagsama-sama natin ‘yung mga boto natin, mahalaga ito,” Marian added.

Citing another line from her character, “Sa araw na ito, malakas ang boses ko at pinakikinggan ako.”

“So sana, ma-realize ng mga tao ‘yun,” Marian said.

Balota” follows a land-grabbing tycoon and a former male sexy actor who are locked in a tight race for the mayoral seat of a small town.

Teacher Emmy serves in the election and runs into the wilderness with a ballot box, the last copy of the election results, when violence in their town erupts.

The award-winning actress said the role brought back her fulfillment at work. She turned deglamorized for the film and also refused to have a body double.

Marian has been commended for her acting by fellow artists and fans, including veteran actor John Arcilla.

"Balota" is currently screening until August 11 in select Ayala Malls Cinemas.
