NBI issues subpoena vs 2 contractors in Sandro Muhlach case

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has issued a subpoena against two independent contractors of GMA Network over the complaint filed by Sparkle Artist Sandro Muhlach.

“Yes, we have issued a subpoena,” NBI Director Jaime Santiago told GMA News Online on Tuesday.

According to Glen Juego’s report on Super Radyo dzBB, Santiago said they are seeking to get the side of the respondents in the complaint.

The NBI director said that they will also thoroughly look into the complaint.

The 23-year old actor, the son of former child celebrity Niño Muhlach, filed the complaint against two individuals before the NBI last week.

GMA Network previously said it has received a formal complaint from Sandro against the two independent contractors, Jojo Nones and Richard Cruz.

Meanwhile, Atty. Maggie Abraham-Garduque, the legal counsel of Nones and Cruz, issued a statement saying the allegations do not mirror the true accounts of the event and that they reserve the right to respond in a proper forum when they receive a copy of the formal complaint.

According to a separate report on Balitanghali, the Senate Committee on Public Information and Mass Media is also seeking to investigate the case of sexual harassment against an artist of GMA Network.

In the report, Senate committee chairman Robin Padilla did not name names but he said that he wanted to give clarity to the controversy.

He said this is why he will call on representatives of the network to the hearing.

“Hindi po natin sinasabi na may sabit dito ang GMA7. Hindi po. Ang sinasabi natin dito, kailangan magkaroon ng malinaw, malinaw na pagpapaliwanag sa committee ng mass media ang naganap na ito,” Padilla said.

(We are not saying that GMA7 is responsible. What we are saying is that there needs to be a clear explanation to the committee about this.)

“Sapagkat ito po ay public information (because this is public information),” he added.

For its part, GMA said it is already coordinating with the committee and that it will send a representative to the hearing.—RF, GMA Integrated News
