Rochelle Pangilinan says she's never been a champion in a dance contest

Rochelle Pangilinan has long made a name for herself as an iconic dancer in showbiz, but she just revealed that she has never actually won in a dance contest.

On Friday's "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," the former SexBomb member shared that while she joined many solo and group dance competitions back in the day, she has never been a dance champion.

"Marami, bara-barangay contest, pero Tito Boy alam mo ba nakakaabot ako sa grand finals pero never akong nanalo. Never ako naging champion," she said.

It was information that surprised Tito Boy, who couldn't believe that the seasoned dancer was telling the truth.

Rochelle also shared about the modest winnings she would get back in the day from those contests.

"Pag sa bara-barangay mas mura. Eight hundred pesos lang 'yung inuuwi ko pero sa TV mas malaki-laki," she said, adding that she would use her winnings to help her parents.

"Pambaon ko, pinangtutulong ko sa magulang ko kasi wala naman kaming ano noon eh, tapos nagbibigay din ako ng pamalengke kahit konti."

She likewise shared on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" how proud she is to be part of the historical drama "Pulang Araw," which airs weeknights on GMA Prime at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras."

Per Rochelle, it has always been her dream to work on a historical drama project because she wants her daughter, Shiloh, to see her on television.

In the series, she plays the role of Amalia Dimalanta-Torres, the aunt of Adelina (Barbie Forteza) and Eduardo (Alden Richards), who becomes their primary guardian. As World War II ravages their homeland, Amalia is forced into sexual slavery as a comfort woman.

Prior to becoming an actress, Rochelle was one of the original members of the all-female dance group The Sexbomb Girls. The group rose to fame for their daily performances on "Eat Bulaga" and for their afternoon drama series "Daisy Siete." Among their hits were "The Spageti Song," "Halukay Ube," "Bakit Papa?" and many more.

This past February and March, Rochelle opened her very own dance classes featuring sexy hip-hop and jazz.

She is married to fellow actor Arthur Solinap. They have one daughter, Shiloh.
