'Firefly' star Euwenn Mikaell and Joel Torre's 'Lolo and the Kid' premieres on Netflix in August
"Firefly" star Euwenn Mikaell is starring in the Netflix film "Lolo and the Kid" with veteran award-winning actor Joel Torre!
"Lolo and the Kid" just dropped its trailer and it's looking to be a flick that will tug at one's heartstrings.
Directed by Benedict Mique, "Lolo and the Kid" follows the story of a hustler (Joel) and a child (Euwenn) he took under his wing. Together, the pair build a strong bond and con the wealthy, but a life-changing opportunity might just change their relationship.
The movie is set to premiere on Netflix beginning Aug. 7.
The trailer opens with Joel's character emphasizing the importance of "diskarte" to Euwenn's character. In the next scene, the two are seen running away from a house, carrying bags filled with items from the house they appeared to have robbed.
The trailer is interspersed with heartwarming moments of the two bonding together, such as going on rides at a theme park, singing karaoke, and Joel's character reading a story to Euwenn's character.
Tragedy strikes when Euwenn's character is hit by a car at night, and life begins to change for the two.
Aside from Euwenn and Joel, other members of the cast include Iza Calzado, Meryll Soriano, Joem Bascon, Alfred Vargas, Markki Stroem, Juan Karlos Labajo, and more.
In March this year, Sparkle GMA Artist Center shared a photo of Euwenn, Joel, and Juan Karlos together and said the child actor will be working on a project with the two.
Euwenn starred in award-winning Kapuso director Zig Dulay's "Firefly." Euwenn made waves for his role as TonTon, and won Best Child Actor at the Metro Manila Film Festival last December. "Firefly" also won Best Picture at the MMFF.
In May this year, Euwenn won Best Child Actor at the FAMAS Awards for his role in "Firefly."
