Lovely Abella, Benj Manalo mark ‘spiritual birthday’ as Christians
It’s been two years since Lovely Abella and Benj Manalo welcomed Christianity in their lives.
On Instagram, the Sparkle actress posted some snaps taken from their water baptism in June 2022 to celebrate their “spiritual birthday” as Christians. In the photos, the couple were being prayed over by their fellow Christian faithful.
“Spiritual birthday namin today [Benj]. Father God thank you for your faithfulness. Grabe ka talaga salamat po talaga,” Lovely wrote.
“Thank you sa aming [Victory Greenhills] family sa pag gabay para mas lalo namin makilala ang ating Lord and savior,” she added.
In the comments section, fellow celebrities and netizens sent in their greetings for Lovely and Benj.
“YAYYYYY!!!!! PRAISE GOD ATE & KUYA,” actress Mika Dela Cruz wrote.
“Happy Spiritual Birthday po Ate Ga & Kuya Benj,” a netizen commented.
Lovely and Benj got baptized as Christians two years ago and shared their inspiring spiritual journey to Christianity through a series of Instagram posts.
In his June 2022 post, Benj reflected on his spiritual life and admitted that he experienced many ups and downs for the past 16 years.
"16 years of ups and downs on my journey to know Christ, 2006 I was introduced to His word, but I got lost. Have done a lot of things in my life that I know were not pleasing to God. I was selfish with all my actions for my own intentions only," he said.
"Not until last year 2021 when I was at my worst, Jesus used pastor [Francis Cutiongco] to answer my prayers, I was caught off guard but I knew from that time, God wanted me to know Him more," he added.
The couple tied the knot in 2021 with Benj also proposing to Lovely’s daughter Crisha. Their first child Liam was born in 2023.
