Patrick: All is well between Jen’s parents and me

Actor Patrick Garcia on Sunday said everything is well between him and the parents of his girlfriend Jennylyn Mercado who is now six weeks pregnant. “Nagkausap na kami yesterday or two days ago. It’s a short talk but in the end of the conversation nagyakapan kami. There are tears in our eyes. For me I appreciate it. Kumbaga parang gumaan ang loob ko na nagkausap kami," he told Showbiz Central hosts Pia Guanio, Richard Gutierrez and John Lapus. He said the first thing Mommy Lydia, Jen’s mother, told him was to take good care of her daughter. While Daddy Roger advised him not to fight with Jennylyn. “When I spoke to them it wasn’t that heavy naman. It was light na," he said. Patrick said his father, on the other hand, was excited with Jen’s pregnancy and his mom and his siblings were supportive of him. He said getting married is not their priority now, adding: “Ang priority namin is to take care of the baby and take care of Jen." Patrick revealed another reason: “My sister (Cheska) is getting married also (reportedly October this year)." The actor said that he has to prepare many things and admitted that: “I have to be matured." He said Jen is now staying at the house of her parents and he is visiting her almost daily. “Hindi rin ako for live-in kumbaga. Magpapakasal kami kung puwede na. Mas tama yun," he said. The young actor said due to pregnancy, Jennylyn had mood swings. “’Yung mood swings ni Jen...inaaway ako minsan kahit walang dahilan (biglang iiyak). Pero syempre mas hahabaan ko yung pasensiya ko. Mas dapat intindihin ko yung sitwasyon niya," he said. Patrick admitted that Jen’s unplanned pregnancy affected their respective careers. Nadine Samonte and Polo Ravales were tapped to take over Patrick and Jen’s role in GMA Network’s new soap opera “Maging Akin Ka Lamang." “I feel bad about it. First lead role ko dito sa GMA tapos nawala pa. I feel bad about it," he said. But still, he said, he has one more upcoming show, which is “Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita" with JC de Vera and Yasmien Kurdi. Patrick also allayed fears of Jen’s parents regarding her career. “Well, in life there’re always ups and downs, of course. I could say promises and everything but siguro magtiwala lang tayo sa Diyos and prayers. Let us just work together, hand in hand, and maybe malalampasan namin lahat ng problema," he said. He further said their situation now only strengthens their relationship. “Mas lalong tumibay (ang relationship dahil dito). Araw-araw kinakabahan ako. Mas lalong lumalim ang pag-iisip ko about our relationship and getting excited na rin whether it is a boy or a girl," he said. Asked what kind of father would he be, he replied: “I don’t know. Hopefully a good one because I think nobody can ever say they are prepared to be a father unless they are there. So me, I’m not ready but I’m getting prepared." Jennylyn, for her part, is now experiencing a lot of changes in her body. “Marami sobrang dami. Kagabi hindi ako pinapatulog ng sakit ng tiyan ko tapos lahat parts ng tiyan ko sumasakit, lower part, upper part, pati likod sumasakit na. Ang pangit ng feeling umiiyak ka ng walang dahilan," she said. Jen said she is proud of Patrick for standing beside her and admitting that he is the father of her child. “Syempre proud ako kay Pat. Yung pagiging responsible napakita niya sa akin. Na-prove niya naman na gagawin niya lahat and syempre mahirap mag-adjust alam ko yun dahil pati ako nahihirapan mag-adjust. Pero sana makaya namin. Sana malusutan naming lahat yan," she said. Her message to Patrick: “Sana ‘wag siya magsawa and magbago. Sana habaan niya pa yung patience n’ya sa akin lalo na sa kondisyon ko ngayon ang hirap ko talagang intindihin. Promise ko sa kanya that I will take care of the baby, and syempre myself din. Kailangan ko alagaan ang sarili ko at siya. Hindi ko pababayaan ang relationship namin and lagi ako nandito para sa kanya." “Love na love ko siya," she added. Jennylyn assured her parents that she will always be there for them. “Andito lang ako para sa kanila, hindi ko naman sila iiwan. Dumating lang talaga yung time na merong ups and downs. Hindi pa rin ako nawawalan ng strength lalo na kay God kasi alam ko hindi Niya kami pababayaan," she said. Patrick has this message for Jennylyn: “I’m always here for you. Everyday I’ll try to be a better person for you and for the baby. Although it came to us so fast, I think we did the right decision of not hiding it and being proud of it and I’ll never leave you. I’ll always stay by your side." Jennylyn also promised her fans that she will resume her career after giving birth. “Promise ko sa kanila na after giving birth sana makabalik ako and gusto ko magpasalamat sa lahat ng support nila sa akin, inspiring messages. Kasi talagang yung mga messages nila for me sobrang nakakatuwa, nakakagaan ng loob. Parang very hopeful pa rin sila na makita ako and sana makasama ko sila at makabalik ako and wag sila mag-alala. Sana pag nagkaroon ng chance makabalik ulit ako and makita ulit nila ako sa TV." - GMANews.TV
