Eddie Garcia's remains cremated, turned over to family

The remains of the legendary actor Eddie Garcia were cremated Friday dawn, according to his stepson, 1-Pacman party-list Representative Michael "Mikee" Romero.

Romero said Garcia's remains were turned over to them at 3:20 a.m.

"At 1 a.m., with 40 immediate family and friends of the Garcia, Lagman and Romero gathered around Tito Eddie's body, the cremation process started," Romero said in a Facebook post.

"As he entered the cremation room, we all gave Tito Ed a standing ovation he deserved and started shouting Bravo for the last time. We love you, Tito Eddie."

Garcia, 90, died at 4:44 p.m. on Thursday due to complications from a cervical fracture he sustained during a taping for a television show. The award-winning veteran actor had been in critical condition and confined in the hospital since June 8.

Romero said Garcia's closest friends, among them Bibeth Orteza, Tirso Cruz III, and Philip Salvador, delivered eulogies for the late actor early Friday.

"The legend... maybe nobody could equal him," Romero said of his stepfather. —Llanesca T. Panti/KBK, GMA News
