Korean actor Jisoo: Deeply touched by Pinoy’s love for K-dramas

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, South Korea's rising star Kim Ji Soo has returned in the Philippines and is ready to meet his Filipino fans upclose for his first fan meeting in the country.

The 25-year-old actor, more popularly known by his mononym "Jisoo,"  said that being back in the Philippines felt "very familiar" for him although he hasn't been around yet.

Jisoo, who stole the hearts of fans for his second lead roles, said that even though he isn't sure if he has a big fan base in the Philippines, he is still very excited and happy to be back in a place that he really loves.

"He's very touched that Korean dramas are well-received in the Philippines and it inspires him to do better in his upcoming projects," Jisoo said through his interpreter at a press conference on Friday.

Asked on whether he has tried any Filipino food, Jisoo said his favorite is one of the Philippines' most-loved dishes, the classic adobo. He added that he also likes red hot dogs, barbecue, and Jollibee.

His ideal Valentine's date

While his fan meeting will be in light of Valentine's Day, Jisoo also shared what his ideal date would be like.

"His ideal Valentine's Day is to be with the person who [he] can communicate with, not just through words, not just language but someone who [he] can connect with," Jisoo said through his interpreter, adding that he wants it to be in a place overlooking the city or in a rooftop.

He also said that he wants to "drop some hints first" before he tells a woman that he likes her.

Jisoo, who made his acting debut in 2009, has starred in many Korean dramas including Angry Mom (2015) where he first gained recognition, Cheer Up! (2015), Page Turner (2016), Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (2016), Fantastic (2016) and the hit drama Strong Woman Do Bong Soon (2017) where he co-starred with Park Hyung Sik who also recently visited the country.

He currently starred in the season two of action noir drama Bad Guys: City of Evil where he surprised fans with his shaved hair and strong look, deviating from his warm and youthful characters that he has portrayed in his past works.

Jisoo also starred in films including One Way Trip (2016) and as well as the Filipino-Korean independent film Seoul Mates (2014).

Don't miss your chance to spend your early Valentine's Day with Jisoo on Saturday (February 10), 7 p.m. at the SM North EDSA Skydome in Quezon City. —LBG, GMA News
