Pia eyes return to showbiz, even entry to politics, after Miss Universe reign

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach might enter the showbiz world after her reign, GMA News TV's Balitanghali reported on Friday.

During a conference with the Filipino community in New York, Pia was asked what she plans to do when she passes the crown to the next Miss Universe.

"I definitely see myself going back to acting," Pia said.

Before she won the Miss Universe title in 2015, Pia worked as an actress and model.

Pia also said that she's not closing her doors on politics.

"Politics? Why not? I'm not closing my doors," Pia said. "I think that I have much to learn. I have to get the right qualifications for it, of course."

During the Miss Universe competition, Pia disappointed certain politicians when during the question and answer portion of the pageant, she expressed agreement with the presence of the United States' military presence in the country.

But Pia said that she respected the opinions of her critics.

"That's okay, I respect their opinion and I think that there's a right time and a right place to talk about that," Pia said.

Whichever path Pia chooses, Miss Universe Organization President Paula Shugart said that she believes Pia will make the country proud.

"Pia has already made us proud, and I promise you, she's gonna be one of our best representatives and I know she'll make the Philippines very, very proud," Shugart said. -Jessica Bartolome/NB, GMA News
