Direk Dominic Zapata admits he likes 'risky' telenovelas

"Of course, it always has its drawbacks when you try something new. Kung 'yung iba matatakot na gumawa ng bagay na bago because they are afraid of failure, this network isn't. We're the opposite of that."

Dagdag pa niya, "I think primarily, we want to push the envelope. And if we have to do so and there's a high risk, gusto ko ako 'yun nandoon.

"I think every time you do something new, something unfamiliar to the audience. it's also unfamiliar to the actors. They are again stretching new muscles, so they feel challenged, they feel more interested. They are also more curious about a character that they haven't portrayed before."

"I used to be a cameraman or a cinematographer's director. Ngayon I'm a lot more focused on acting. So that now, when we're on the set, we discuss it. We talk about process, we talk about how we get to a point, how an emotion gets to a point, where we're headed para hindi namin masyadong pina-fast track, we don't jump to the point right away. What I like about them is that they understand now that the craft is not an individual performance. We all understand now that we are only as good as our weakest link, so you kind of pull each other," paliwanag ng batikang direktor. -- Michelle Caligan/Elisa Aquino, GMANetwork.com
