Why James Yap can't celebrate San Mig Coffee's Grand Slam with Bimby just yet

"Bimby, para sa 'yo 'to!"

That was James Yap's parting shot on television after his San Mig Super Coffee Mixers completed the PBA Grand Slam on Wednesday night.

The Mixers superstar, who won Most Valuable Player honors in the Governors' Cup finals after scoring a game-high 29 points in the series-clincher, dedicated his latest trophy to his son James Aquino Yap, nicknamed Bimby.

But Big Game James has to wait a little while to celebrate the Grand Slam with his son.

That's because his ex-wife, Kris Aquino, will be in Thailand to shoot episodes of her TV show, taking along Bimby and her elder son Josh. On Thursday, she posted a picture on Instagram with her children as they embarked on the trip.

On better terms

But James probably wouldn't have to wait too long before he could spend time again with his son, especially since he and Kris have patched up their relationship to become good friends.

Their seven-year marriage ended in an annulment in 2012, followed by a bitter legal dispute over custody of Bimby.

James and Kris have come to an agreement over visitation rights, paving the way for him to spend time with Bimby.

In February, James resumed regular visits ith Bimby. He also joined his child's seventh birthday celebration last April, which also saw Bimby once again attending games live to watch his father play basketball.

Last month, Kris even posted a photo showing her, James, and Bimby hanging out, amid reports of her breakup with Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista.
