Gui Adorno sa Pilipinas: 'It's like home but on the other side of the world'

Gui Adorno has been to the Philippines twice before he decided to stay here after his third visit. The You're My Foreignoy grand winner, who has been in the country for a year now, had nothing but kind words to say when we caught up with him during a television show guesting recently.

Galing ng Thailand si Gui bago siya unang pumunta sa Pilipinas noong 2007. After being exposed to Thai culture, hindi daw siya makapaniwalang nasa Asia pa rin siya pagdating niya sa bansa.

"I wasn't sure what to expect since I didn't know much about the Philippines. I have friends who work here who told me I should go, and when I came here, I couldn't believe it was Asia. There are Spanish and English words, plus the alphabet is the same. It's like home but on the other side of the world," kuwento ni Gui.

Portuguese ang ama ni Gui, pero sa Brazil na siya ipinanganak at lumaki. Maraming similarities ang Brazil at Philippines kaya naging madali kay Gui na mag-adjust sa pamumuhay dito.

"The country looks so much like our country. The people are so nice and friendly, and very supportive. It's hard to leave. It's hard to find this quality of life anywhere else. I really enjoy it here, and I want to stay longer."

Kamusta naman kaya ang pagta-Tagalog niya?

"I'm going to start my first lesson tomorrow. I always want to know what I'm talking about, and the meaning of the words so I can perform better."
