MTRCB: TAPE, GMA commit to ensure child-friendly scenes for Ryzza Mae
The producers and home network of two shows featuring child star Ryzza Mae Dizon on Thursday committed to work with the Movie and Television Ratings and Classification Board to make sure Ryzza Mae's scenes are child-friendly.
In posts on its Twitter account, the MTRCB Thursday said TAPE Inc. and GMA Network acknowledged at least two scenes on Dizon's shows were not child-friendly and agreed to a three-month collaboration with MTRCB.
"Of great concern is determining who will deal with Ryzza Mae in her scenes and how, such that her dignity and wellbeing as a child are not violated," the MTRCB said.
According to the MTRCB, TAPE Inc. and GMA Network asked to be given until Monday, Sept. 9, to submit "concrete and time-bound remedial measures, with adequate review and feedback mechanism," for approval by the MTRCB Ad Hoc Committee.
Representatives of TAPE and GMA attended a conference Thursday over the alleged child-unfriendly scenes involving Ryzza Mae.
For "Eat Bulaga," the MTRCB cited its July 29 episode where a host "spat juice into the face" of child actress and host Ryzza Mae Dizon.
As for the "Ryzza Mae Show," it cited its Aug. 14 episode where a guest told Dizon, "landing bata ka," and the child "asked the guest not to be harsh on her."
"These scenes palpably violate the dignity of the child and have to be addressed by the show's producer TAPE Inc., as well as GMA Channel 7 over which the said shows air," the MTRCB said.
Present at Thursday's conference were TAPE president and CEO Antonio Tuviera and SVP/COO Malou Fogar; and GMA VP program management Jose Mari Abacan and legal counsel Jose Vener Ibarra.
On hand as resource person was Dr. Vanessa Cainghug of the Philippine Psychiatric Association, who gave inputs to ensure the child host's psychological wellbeing.
"MTRCB welcomes TAPE, Inc.'s & GMA-7's initiative to have 3-month period of close collaboration to ensure child-friendly scenes for Ryzza Mae," the MTRCB tweeted after the conference. — ELR, GMA News
