Actor Richard Gutierrez says his relationship with Angel Locsin is âmore special now" and the actress concurs that she too is happy, the
Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) reported on Wednesday. "Kung ano man ang meron kami ni Angel ngayon, I think it's more special now than us jumping into a relationship two years ago," Richard said in a taped interview over the showbiz talk show
S-Files. "Kasi kami ni âChard, masaya kami kung ano'ng nangyayari sa amin ngayon," Angel, who recently had a much publicized break up with Oyo Sotto, said in the same interview. The Richard-Angel love team has become a popular tandem in the box office, with films such as the
Mano Po series and
Mulawin: The Movie. The two will pair up again in the movie,
The Promise, which will open on Valentineâs Day. PEP reported that unknown to many, Richard and Angel almost paired up in real life. "Hindi natuloy dahil sa akin. Nung mga panahong iyon... Hindi ko alam kung tama âtong sasabihin ko sa kanya," said Richard with some hesitation. "Ako kasi sa sarili ko nun, hindi pa ako handa. Maraming reasons kung bakit hindi natuloy. Marami pa akong iniisip at medyo ligaw pa ako nung panahong iyon," he added. When asked if their relationship will turn serious, Richard chose to play it safe. "Kami ni Angel, we've always been close. Ako, as much as I can, sweet naman ako kay Angel. I try to be sweet. Ewan ko kung nararamdaman niya," said Richard, who is the son of actor Eddie Gutierrez and Annabelle Rama. A smiling Angel added: "Basta mahalaga, masaya kami together. Hindi naman namin tinutuldukan." The two first worked together in GMAâs youth-oriented drama
Click, where they played twins. The public embraced the pair when they teamed up in GMA-7âs popular fantasy series
Mulawin even if Angel, in real life, was then going out with the late young actor Miko Sotto and later his cousin, Oyo, son of veteran popular comedian Vic Sotto. Richard at the time had a relationship with model Georgina Wilson.
