K-pop duo TVXQ tells Pinoys: 'We hope to visit PHL soon'

Filipino fans of international K-pop superstars TVXQ / Dong Bang Shin Ki may have yet to see their idols perform live in the Philippines, but the world-renowned duo definitely knows about their loyal fan base in the Southeast Pacific region.

TVXQ member Shim Changmin (L) with Yunho Jung, said: “We will work harder and try to visit the Philippines so please wait a bit more.”
With the help of Kwanhun Club and Korea Press Foundation, GMA Network had the privilege of interviewing the members of TVXQ during their press conference held before the start of the second leg of their Seoul concert last November 18 at the Seoul Olympic Park Gymnastics Stadium.
TVXQ leader Yunho Jung (English name: U-Know Yunho) talked about their plans as a group: “If we're given a good opportunity, we want to personally greet you guys not only as actors but also in many other aspects. Because right now as for Changmin, and also for me, we have to secure ourselves as Dong Bang Shin Ki [Rising Gods of the East] and also as artists.”

With the phenomenal success of K-pop as part of the Korean Wave or hallyu, various entertainment agencies continuously introduce younger K-pop artists in South Korea.

In spite of the fierce competition, TVXQ has remained active not only in singing and dancing, but also in movies and television dramas. Jung  also emphasized the importance of being ahead of their game all the time: “When we have shown you our best, then we will look for opportunities where we can show off our charms. So if you guys wait a little bit more, we will show you a different side of us. Please anticipate that.”

At the TVXQ Catch Me World Tour first leg in Seoul, 20,000 tickets were sold in just three minutes.
Meanwhile, the TVXQ! Live World Tour “Catch Me” in Seoul is the group’s first concert in Korea since 2008. All 20,000 tickets were sold out within three minutes after it went on sale last October 18.

During the second day of the concert, the production encountered a technical glitch at the start of the first half, but the whole crowd amazingly cheered: “It’s alright” in Korean as the members had to repeat performing the song “Getaway.” The duo successfully pumped up the crowd which was also composed of fans not only from Korea, but also from Japan, China, Thailand, America, and Europe.

Fans became especially sentimental too as TVXQ included all-time classics such as “Rising Sun,” “O, Purple Line,” “Hi Ya Ya,” and “Mirotic” in their line-up.

When asked about his message to the Filipino fans who have not yet seen them perform live, Changmin Shim (English name: Max Changmin) said: “Yes, we haven’t been to the Philippines as you mentioned, and we feel sorry about that. Even though we have not been to the Philippines at least once, because we have our fans who are continuously sending their love passionately, it is something that we should reflect on.”

He also added: “We will work harder and try to visit the Philippines so please wait a bit more.”
